About The Position

Honeywell Technologies is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to operate and support electronic assembly equipment. This role involves performing equipment setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure efficient production. The technician will work with SMT and related processes, monitor equipment conditions, respond to production calls, and collaborate with engineers and maintenance personnel. Key responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, replacing components, and documenting all work. The technician will also collect and enter production data, maintain equipment logs, and support continuous improvement activities. This position requires a safety-minded, dependable, and detail-oriented individual with strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Requirements

Associate degree, technical diploma, apprenticeship, or certificate in electronics, electromechanical technology, industrial maintenance, manufacturing technology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
Typically 2 or more years of experience supporting automated manufacturing, electronics assembly, equipment maintenance, or a similar technical production environment.
Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, sensor, and control-system fundamentals.
Ability to read and follow work instructions, equipment manuals, maintenance procedures, wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, multimeters, gauges, microscopes, and other approved diagnostic or inspection equipment.
Basic computer skills for equipment interfaces, maintenance systems, production records, email, and standard office applications.
Ability to communicate clearly, work effectively in a team, and document problems and completed work in English.
Ability to safely work in a manufacturing environment, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting within local job and safety requirements.
Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status) due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations.

Nice To Haves

Hands-on experience operating, setting up, maintaining, or repairing SMT, soldering, inspection, coating, depaneling, test, robotics, or other automated assembly equipment.
Familiarity with screen printers, placement machines, reflow ovens, SPI, AOI, AXI, conveyors, feeders, selective solder, wave solder, or conformal coating systems.
Experience diagnosing equipment faults and replacing sensors, belts, bearings, motors, valves, cylinders, cables, power supplies, pumps, or similar service parts.
Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 workmanship criteria; IPC J-STD-001 or IPC-7711/7721 training or certification is preferred where relevant to assigned work.
Awareness of ESD controls, moisture-sensitive device handling, chemical safety, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout principles.
Experience with preventive maintenance schedules, computerized maintenance management systems, spare-parts control, calibration records, or equipment history logs.
Basic soldering, desoldering, wiring, connector repair, or PCBA rework skills performed within documented authorization and workmanship requirements.
Basic understanding of defect identification, first-pass yield, downtime tracking, 5S, standard work, and structured problem-solving methods.
Experience using SAP, MES, maintenance software, or another manufacturing information system.
Willingness to learn new equipment, complete required technical certifications, and work across multiple electronic assembly processes.

Responsibilities

Operate and support electronic assembly equipment according to approved work instructions, safety requirements, process settings, and production schedules.
Perform equipment setup, changeover, startup checks, shutdown, cleaning, material loading, feeder or tooling preparation, and basic program or recipe selection.
Support SMT and related processes such as solder paste printing, SPI, component placement, reflow, AOI, through-hole insertion, selective or wave soldering, coating, depaneling, inspection, test, and rework.
Monitor equipment and process conditions; identify alarms, defects, jams, wear, abnormal sounds, leaks, temperature issues, and other signs of equipment or process instability.
Respond to production calls and Andon escalations; restore equipment to standard condition when within training and authorization and promptly escalate higher-risk problems.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspection, lubrication, cleaning, calibration checks, filter changes, wear-part replacement, and basic adjustment using approved procedures.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, sensor, conveyor, feeder, fixture, tooling, and basic control-system issues using drawings, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
Replace approved components and assemblies; verify safe operation after maintenance or repair and document work completed, parts used, and follow-up needs.
Support engineers and maintenance personnel with equipment installation, qualification, trials, process changes, capability studies, and new product builds.
Collect and enter production, defect, downtime, maintenance, and equipment data; help identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
Maintain accurate equipment logs, checklists, spare-parts records, setup sheets, visual standards, and troubleshooting instructions.
Inspect work for visible defects and process compliance; support containment, root-cause investigation, corrective action, and verification activities.
Use ESD controls, required personal protective equipment, lockout/tagout practices where authorized, and safe handling methods for chemicals, solder, tooling, and equipment.
Help train operators on correct equipment operation, setup checks, routine care, defect recognition, and escalation expectations.
Participate in 5S, standard work, Kaizen, and other continuous-improvement activities; provide practical feedback to engineering and operations.
Provide shift support and occasional off-shift or weekend support based on manufacturing needs.
