About The Position

The Aquarium AGLOW Exhibit Specialist is responsible for staging, installation, maintenance, and striking of Aquarium AGLOW installations at the South Carolina Aquarium. This position requires hands-on involvement that includes carpentry, painting, wiring, installation, soldering, and hanging signage and decorations. The Exhibit Specialist will maintain the overall daily appearance of the South Carolina Aquarium’s public spaces for the duration of Aquarium AGLOW (mid-November through the conclusion of AGLOW). This is a seasonal, hourly position intended to start in mid-October and will conclude in mid to late January.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
Valid Driver’s License.
Basic finish carpentry skills.
Painting skills.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Understands the proper use of industrial tools and equipment.
Communicates effectively with fellow team members.
Ability to problem solve creatively and resourcefully.
Detailed-oriented to observe and identify issues with displays, lights, exhibits.
Highly motivated and willing to learn.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and can self-pace to stay on track.
Ability to meet deadlines and to multi-task projects.

Responsibilities

Maintains the daily appearance of public spaces at the Aquarium.
Maintains and repairs current exhibits, ensuring exhibit interactives are operational.
Maintains Aquarium Aglow elements, making sure all are operational for the following Aglow evenings.
Properly packs and stores seasonal promotional materials.
Unpacks and installs all displays pertaining to Aquarium Aglow.
Troubleshoots Aquarium Aglow lighting issues, etc.
Strikes Aquarium Aglow displays.
Fixes Aquarium Aglow display issues before packing them up for the season.
Organizes and stores Aquarium Aglow elements.
Works with Animal Husbandry and Facility staff in assignments as necessary.
