About The Position

The Exhibit Production Artist supports the Exhibits and Environments team by preparing accurate, production-ready graphics and technical artwork for custom exhibits, live events, branded environments, and tradeshow manufacturing. The ideal candidate has strong Adobe Creative Suite skills and a solid understanding of large-format print production, prepress, color management, materials, finishing methods, and exhibit fabrication workflows. This position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple fast-moving projects while balancing creative intent with production and manufacturing requirements. The Exhibit Production Artist will provide backup support for graphics production, prepress, file preparation, shop documentation, and show-site needs for the Exhibits and Environments department as needed.

  • Working knowledge of large-format printing, vinyl graphics, substrates, laminates, color matching, bleed, scale, resolution, finishing methods, and installation requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret floor plans, elevations, shop drawings, renderings, graphic placement plans, and vendor production specifications.
  • Strong proofreading, quality-control, file-organization, and version-management skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across design, project management, fabrication, graphics production, and installation teams.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and respond effectively to last-minute changes in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to balance creative accuracy with manufacturing and production requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RIP, prepress, print production, CAD, CNC, or 3D/exhibit design workflows is a plus.
  • Hands-on familiarity with signage tools, production equipment, shop safety practices, or exhibit fabrication processes is preferred.
  • Portfolio or relevant work samples preferred but not required.
  • Relevant experience is accepted in place of a specific degree or education requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare final production artwork for large-format graphics, dimensional signage, exhibit structures, live event environments, and tradeshow displays.
  • Preflight, scale, resize, color-correct, proof, and package design files to meet print, fabrication, and installation specifications.
  • Create and maintain production-ready layouts, templates, dielines, cut files, elevations, callouts, and graphic placement documentation.
  • Translate approved design concepts into accurate, buildable production files while maintaining intended creative and brand standards.
  • Review client artwork, brand guidelines, vendor specifications, shop drawings, and production requirements to identify missing assets, scale issues, production risks, or installation concerns before release.
  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, estimators, fabricators, installers, graphics production teams, and vendors throughout the production process.
  • Coordinate proofs, revisions, approvals, and release-to-production deadlines to ensure projects remain aligned with fabrication and show schedules.
  • Support large-format print production, vinyl output, mounting, trimming, finishing, labeling, packing, and quality-control processes as needed.
  • Maintain organized project files, production notes, digital archives, version control, and asset libraries to support repeat programs and future reprints.
  • Prepare clear production documentation to help teams accurately fabricate, print, finish, pack, ship, and install completed work.
  • Provide backup support for graphics production, prepress, file preparation, shop documentation, and other Exhibits and Environments production needs as required.
  • Assist with onsite installation, show-site adjustments, graphics troubleshooting, and strike support when required.
  • Follow established safety procedures and requirements when working in production, fabrication, warehouse, and show-site environments.
  • Occasionally work evenings, weekends, or extended hours as needed to meet client and project deadlines.
