About The Position

The Exhibit Cleaner (PT) is an entry-level position primarily responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of Orlando Science Center’s exhibits. Other duties may include replenishing exhibit consumables, exhibit resets, and reporting exhibit issues as they arise.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to move throughout the museum.
• Ability to ascend/descend stairs throughout the museum.
• Ability to ascend/descend ladders or other equipment to perform various tasks.
• Ability to observe and react to the needs of guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information with guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners in a variety of formats including in-person, electronically, and over the phone.
• Possess close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
• Ability to understand and distinguish speech and other sounds (machinery, alarms, equipment).
• Ability to manipulate and move components weighing up to 25 pounds, including those that may be low to the ground or above eye level.
• Ability to cope with demands and stresses associated with the job and work environment.
• Ability to frequently kneel, crouch, stoop, and crawl.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in basic sanitation and cleaning is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all exhibits are kept clean and presentable by cleaning, dusting, washing, and vacuuming exhibits.
• Perform high-level cleaning with the use of ladders, scaffolding, or scissor lifts.
• Perform general cleaning, dusting, and organizing of exhibit components, exhibit halls, and shop.
• Follow health and safety procedures when disposing of chemicals and when using cleaning equipment.
• Assist Exhibit Technician team members by performing tasks such as moving exhibits, stage set up and removal, organizing storage areas, and operating basic hand and power tools.
• Report any exhibit challenges as they arise to the Exhibit Technician I.
• Able to work independently.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
