About The Position
Work will be found in health promotion and fitness development in an ambulatory care setting. Implementation of exercise prescription for health-related fitness will be a strong emphasis of the position. Duties to include client screening and fitness assessment following ACSM Guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science Program
- Must be CPR certified
- Ability to perform EKG testing and interpretation.
- Must be knowledgeable in the basic aspects of the acute and chronic effects of exercise on all major organ systems and the basic prescription of exercise.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen in accordance with the Drug, Alcohol and Controlled Substance Abuse policy.
Nice To Haves
- master’s degree preferred
- First Aid Certification desirable
- Skill in stress testing desirable
- Background check may also be required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement exercise prescription program for at-risk and diseased populations.
- Provide assessment and exercise supervision to all age groups.
- Graded exercise testing for healthy and diseased populations.
- Provide patient counseling and education to participants based on extensive knowledge of functional anatomy, exercise physiology, pathophysiology, gerontology, human behavior/psychology.
- Monitoring the safety and function of fitness equipment.
- Conduct/participate in group exercise instruction for all age groups.
- Be able to provide emergency procedures related to exercise testing and training situations.
- Participate in Health Team planning, community assessment, goal setting, and evaluation of Health Promotion and Wellness Programs.
- May develop and supervise specific conditioning programs to increase athletic performance such as speed, agility, strength, endurance, flexibility and power.
- Works with participants in the prevention of illness or complications, and injury related to exercise or sports.
- Maintains neat and orderly work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
