The Exercise Physiologist provides all aspects of phases I – III cardiac rehabilitation. Under general direction, this role develops, implements, and evaluates exercise prescriptions and sessions for cardio/pulmonary rehab and other chronic illnesses. Responsibilities include creating educational materials and providing education to cardio/pulmonary patients and others referred to the cardiac rehab program. The position also involves planning and participating in special patient events, writing/research endeavors, professional conferences, the student internship program, specialized programmatic service lines (e.g., Cardiovascular Performance Clinic, cardiac rehab referral intake, marketing), and departmental improvement initiatives. The Exercise Physiologist must be extremely knowledgeable of cardiac risk factors, provide care management to Phase II patients, supervise cardiovascular stress tests, and offer services like Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) and holter and event monitor placement.
