The Exercise Physiologist works with patients to support and encourage them to meet their health and life goals, designing and carefully monitoring programs, patient safety, and progress. Requirements

  • Desire to work with a comprehensive health care team.
  • Committed to a healthy lifestyle as a model for participants and staff.
  • Expertise in the human body’s metabolic response to short- and long-term physical activity for ICR.
  • Advanced knowledge of exercise physiology, nutrition, risk factor modification strategies, counseling techniques, and uses of behavior change programs and technologies in CR/SP services.
  • Passion for helping patients improve their health, experience in fitness, and effective communication skills.
  • Respect for the human body, highly motivational, able to provide reassurance and instill confidence in patients performing exercises.
  • Knowledge of exercise testing protocols, indications/contraindications of exercise and health, training techniques and administration.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Recreation, Physiology or related field.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one-year clinical experience in Cardiac Rehab program preferred, with emphasis on wellness, communication skills, customer orientation, and ability to lead through demonstration.
  • EKG coursework and experience preferred.
  • ACSM Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) certification preferred.
