About The Position

This role involves monitoring patients during exercise, assessing their health, and developing individualized exercise plans. The Exercise Physiologist will explain procedures, operate testing equipment, and advise patients on nutrition, risk reduction, and ongoing exercise regimens. They will also teach patient education and behavior modification classes, respond to cardiac arrests according to department procedures, and participate in educational programs. A key aspect of the role is providing service excellence to all individuals encountered, reflecting the hospital's commitment to compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and service.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science.
  • Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia Program or challenge exam within 3 months of position.
  • Certified in BLS.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in adult fitness or cardiac rehabilitation.
  • Documentation of Specialist Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Records blood pressures and observes patient's condition and monitor for indications of positive tests or other complications.
  • Performs pulse oximetry, recognizing variations in methods and testing parameters for different age groups.
  • Monitors and records heart activity using telemetry while the patient exercises on rehab equipment under physician's supervision.
  • Assesses body composition using various techniques such as scales, tape measures, or skinfold calipers.
  • Explains program and test procedures to patients.
  • Develops proficiency in operating the exercise testing system.
  • Evaluates patients' overall health, with a focus on cardiovascular function and metabolism.
  • Designs individualized exercise plans based on patients’ needs and goals.
  • Advises patients about nutrition, risk reduction, and ongoing exercise regimens.
  • Teaches patient education and behavior modification classes.
  • Follows department procedures for responding to cardiac arrests.
  • Attends and participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, workshops, and other activities related to job performance and job knowledge.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for Cardiac Rehab staff.
  • Assists management in the planning, development, and organization of the specified clinical specialty area.
