About The Position

The Cardiology Exercise Physiologist works under the supervision of a Cardiologist and oversees the practical aspects of exercise and nuclear imaging stress procedures. The role includes explaining the procedure and exercise protocol to patients, assessing whether the ordered protocol is appropriate based on the patient’s physical and medical information, and explaining possible adverse effects. The Exercise Physiologist needs thorough knowledge of pharmacological stress agents—including Regadenoson, Adenosine, and Dobutamine—their mechanisms of action, contraindications, drug interactions, adverse effects, and administration protocols. The role also requires knowledge of exercise modalities and how to apply them safely and effectively to individual patients. The position involves understanding test indications and contraindications, recognizing normal and abnormal responses and complications, and determining when a test may need to be rescheduled, changed, or discontinued. Complications are managed using BLS and ACLS standing orders provided by the Cardiologists. This full-time, day-shift position is located in Montrose, Colorado.
