The Exercise Physiologist will interpret physiological data from stress tests to determine individualized exercise prescriptions. They will plan and implement treatment programs based on patient evaluation, modifying prescriptions as needed due to cardiac symptomatology, exercise intolerance, or musculoskeletal/medical issues. This role involves collaborating with physicians on program eligibility, progress, and transition to home programs. The position also includes establishing and presenting health education programs on exercise and risk factor reduction, participating in patient conferences, and working closely with medical staff. A key aspect is promoting the rehabilitation program by building relationships with referral sources. The Exercise Physiologist will also be responsible for placing electrodes for cardiac monitors, counseling patients on home exercise programs and equipment, assisting in cardiac emergencies, and contributing to in-program planning and implementation. Additionally, they may mentor staff for certification, serve as a hospital consultant, participate in professional organizations, and assist in monitoring outpatient cardiac rehabilitation exercise groups. The role involves patient positioning and transporting duties requiring lifting and pushing/pulling, and requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care based on demonstrated knowledge of growth and development.
