About The Position

The Exercise Physiologist implements and supervises physical exercise programs for patients to support rehabilitation and recovery. The role works with patients, peers, and medical professionals to provide personalized exercise therapy, education, and support, helping patients achieve health goals and improve quality of life. The position is based at Henry Ford Providence Southfield Hospital.

Requirements

• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Stress testing experience in a hospital setting; an internship is acceptable.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to interpret EKGs.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree.
• Stress testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
• Plan and teach exercise therapy using test data, patient status, and current medication regimens.
• Monitor patient responses and revise exercise plans accordingly.
• Recognize contraindications and abnormal responses to exercise; respond appropriately, including stopping exercise and referring patients to medical professionals.
• Provide exercise information to patients, peers, and the community through public speaking and education classes.
• Ensure department equipment is maintained, calibrated, and functioning properly.
• Maintain files, records, and reports.
