About The Position

Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is seeking an Exercise Instructor to provide cardiovascular and yoga exercise classes to program participants. The role involves encouraging and promoting practices that lead to positive, healthful lifestyles. FHCSD is a large, federally qualified health center with a mission to provide high-quality healthcare and supportive services to all, with a focus on the uninsured, low-income, and medically underserved populations. The organization operates numerous sites across San Diego County, serving over 227,000 patients annually.

Requirements

High School Diploma
Exercise and fitness certification preferred or minimum 1 year experience leading exercise group sessions.
Experience leading cardiovascular and yoga exercise group sessions.
Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
Traveling between sites and other locations is required as an essential function of the job.
Must have a car, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended.
An acceptable driving record is also required.

Responsibilities

Ensures that each participant signs a waiver/release form when starting the exercise series.
Maintains project coordinator and other staff informed on any problems or concerns related to exercise instruction.
Performs other duties as assigned by the project coordinator or the clinic director.
Provides cardiovascular and yoga exercise classes to project participants.
Keeps required logs of class attendance and submits to project coordinator on a monthly basis.
