About The Position

As an Exercise and Exercise Control Cell (EXCON) Operations Planner, you will provide professional and mission support to Indo-Pacific Combat Training Centers (CTC) and commands. You will deliver continuous planning and coordination support throughout Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) events and serve in the EXCON during a brigade combat team’s live, virtual, and constructive exercise, including allies, partners, and teammates from across the Joint Force in the Indo-Pacific region. As an experienced exercise planner, you may also be asked to help plan, prepare, and execute CTC rotations in accordance with Indo-Pacific operations group (OPSGRP) requirements. As an Exercise Planner and EXCON team member, you’ll plan and execute CTC rotations as a OPSGRP team member. Your planning efforts will include development of JELC exercise products, including exercise orders and supporting staff products that will require synchronization of various warfighting functions. During exercise execution, you’ll serve on the team that tracks CTC operations and monitors battle rhythm events, utilizing MAVEN Smart Systems and other Command and Control platforms to facilitate and provide the OPSGRP with a common operational picture to facilitate their decision-making process and enable an OPSGRP to maintain clear situational awareness and facilitate conditions for units to train to standard. Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience at the brigade level and below, including serving as a BN S3, BN XO, or Operations SGM
  • 2+ years of experience planning, coordinating, and executing live, virtual, and constructive exercises at the brigade level and below
  • 2+ years of experience working at a Division, Corps, Joint, or Multinational HQ
  • Experience serving at a CTC
  • Experience with Army and joint doctrine and training policy
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools, including Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Completion of a CGSC, ILE, or MEL 4 Battle Staff Course

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a CTC OC/T, LTP Coach, or Army Service School Instructor
  • Experience with jungle operations, safety, equipment, and technology integration
  • Knowledge of the Army’s training doctrine, including for jungle operations
  • Ability to pay strict attention to detail
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possession of excellent problem-solving skills
  • Master’s degree
  • Graduate of a School of Advanced Military Studies or SGM Academy
