About The Position

Chubb's Natural Resources Practice is seeking an Executive Underwriter to join their Commercial Insurance team. This high-impact role focuses on growing a Property and Casualty book including Package, Automobile, Pollution, Workers’ Compensation, Umbrella, and International lines of business. The Executive Underwriter will manage a book of business in their assigned territory, focusing on developing book growth, maintaining relationships, and implementing profitable pricing strategies. The role also involves accountability for the financial performance of the book, identifying growth opportunities, conducting agency planning, and making broker and insured visits. Additionally, the position is responsible for the professional development, retention, and performance assessment of team members.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ underwriting experience within the Natural Resources industry and/or Commercial Insurance experience with a desire to specialize in the Natural Resources sectors of Power Generation, Petroleum, and Mining
  • Experience with multiple lines of insurance
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Marketing skills-Broker and Client
  • Leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage approximately a $10 million book of business in their assigned territory.
  • Develop book growth.
  • Maintain superior internal and external relationships.
  • Implement effective and profitable pricing strategies.
  • Achieve growth for the branch.
  • Identify opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities.
  • Conduct agency planning/goal setting.
  • Make regular broker and insured visits based on monthly goals.
  • Demonstrate strong sales and marketing skills along with the ability to position accounts and close deals.
  • Demonstrate success in marketing, producer/book management and new business development.
  • Successfully negotiate on all levels with both internal and external partners and nurture key producer relations.
  • Manage underwriting process and risk analysis effectively.
  • Manage desk effectively.
  • Effectively interact with customers and coworkers at all levels.
  • Utilize knowledge and proficiency with underwriting technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, pricing & strategies.
