About The Position

The Executive Team Leader GM & Grocery (Assistant Manager General Merchandise and Grocery) role at Target focuses on leading operations, process, and efficiency to ensure a consistent guest experience. This involves managing product presentation, stock levels, pricing, and signage within General Merchandise (GM) areas, as well as overseeing Food & Beverage and Food Service operations to ensure a fresh and food-safe environment. The role also includes managing fulfillment work (pick, pack, and ship) for efficient guest delivery. Target emphasizes meaningful experiences for team members to build skills for career development. This role provides knowledge of guest service fundamentals, retail business operations (sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotions), experience in planning and executing monthly/quarterly workloads, managing teams to achieve sales goals, understanding the competition, and developing strategies for hourly team members and leaders. Skills in recruiting, selecting, and talent management are also developed.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand the impact of departments and team on profitability.
  • Manage a team executing inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing for all GM areas.
  • Manage a team of experts in operations, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Enable efficient guest delivery by leading pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead the team to prioritize guest experience and achieve store sales goals.
  • Develop strategies and utilize workload planning tools to complete scheduled workload, ensuring guest readiness.
  • Create a scheduling plan in partnership with team leaders based on business workload and guest traffic.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with the team to ensure task and workload completion.
  • Manage all GM backroom and sales floor areas, review reporting to identify gaps, and develop resolution plans.
  • Oversee Team Leaders' workload planning, including transitions, revisions, and sales plans for all GM areas.
  • Drive fulfillment sales by leading the Fulfillment team to fulfill orders accurately and efficiently, meeting guest promise times.
  • Assess the competition, leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business, and be the destination of choice.
  • Plan, manage, and follow up on organizational and operational changes.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Develop and coach Team Leaders to elevate team skills and expertise.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit for both long and short term.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, leading the team to work the same way and holding others accountable.
  • As a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes.
  • Address store needs (emergency, regulatory visits, etc.).
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs.
