About The Position

The General Merchandise and Food Sales Executive Team Leader (Assistant Store Manager) role is responsible for overseeing operations, process, and efficiency to ensure a consistent guest experience. This includes managing product presentation, stock levels, pricing, and signage across all General Merchandise (GM) areas. The role also leads the Food & Beverage and Food Service departments, ensuring a fresh and food-safe environment. Additionally, the team leader is responsible for owning the pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work to enable efficient delivery to guests. Target aims to provide meaningful experiences that help team members build and develop skills for a career, offering knowledge in guest service, retail business fundamentals, inventory management, and strategic planning. The role involves managing teams, recruiting, and talent management.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand the impact of departments and team on total store profitability.
  • Manage Food & Beverage, food services, inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing for all GM areas.
  • Manage a team of experts in operations, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Lead pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work for efficient guest delivery.
  • Develop strategies and utilize workload planning tools to complete scheduled workload and ensure guest readiness.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with the team to ensure task and workload completion.
  • Manage all GM backroom and sales floor areas, review reporting to identify gaps, and develop resolution plans.
  • Oversee GM Team Leaders' workload planning, including transitions, revisions, and sales plans for all GM areas.
  • Drive fulfillment sales by leading the Fulfillment team to fulfill orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Drive a culture centered in food safety, training, validating, and coaching the team on food safety standards and cleaning routines.
  • Lead an efficient operation to fund the sales culture.
  • Oversee Food & Beverage Team Leader’s workload planning, including transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, and promotions.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture that prioritizes the guest experience and meets store sales goals.
  • Assess the competition, leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business.
  • Manage a consistent guest experience by ensuring product is in stock, fresh, available, food safe, and accurately priced and signed.
  • Assess GM and Food & Beverage backroom and sales floor areas, walk Food & Beverage Standards, and review GM/Food reporting to identify gaps and develop resolution plans.
  • Plan, lead, and follow up on organizational and operational change.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Develop and coach the team to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management; actively develop, coach, and train the team; anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit.
  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; lead the team to work in the same way and hold others accountable.
  • As a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes.
  • Address store needs (emergency, regulatory visits, etc.).
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.
