About The Position

Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI) is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and highly motivated team player to provide administrative support to the Department of Psychology and Forensic Services and other departments and projects as assigned. This role involves office management, including appointment and calendar management, responding to inquiries, preparing for meetings, coordinating rooms, drafting correspondence, completing travel requests, and maintaining office supplies. The incumbent will also be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining databases and generating data-based reports. A key responsibility is coordinating civil commitment hearings, which includes liaising with court personnel, managing legal paperwork, accompanying patients to hearings, attending hearings, and communicating results. Additionally, this position will provide secondary coverage for the administrative functions of the Forensic Services Liaison and Pre-Trial Administrative Assistant. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service, oral, and written communication skills, be organized, capable of handling multiple tasks, analyzing problems, thinking critically, developing methods for complex tasks, and working both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Significant prior administrative assistant/secretarial experience required.
  • Extensive experience in MS Office to include Word and Excel required.

Nice To Haves

  • Administrative experience in a Health and Human Services field, with significant exposure to consumers, official agents, inspectors and government officials strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience with data entry and management preferred.
  • Graduation from college or university with coursework in public administration or related field preferred.

Responsibilities
