About The Position

This is a re-advertisement for an Executive Officer, P-2, Fixed Term Position within the Public Partnerships Division, Director's Office, located in New York, USA. UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. The Public Partnerships Division (PPD) leads UNICEF to secure quality public sector income, promotes international development and humanitarian resources for child-focused outcomes, and facilitates UNICEF’s intergovernmental and interagency engagement to champion child rights. The Executive Officer primarily supports the Global Director in ensuring the effective functioning of the PPD Global Director’s Office. This support focuses on executive coordination and support, facilitating internal and external communications. The Officer also contributes to divisional coherence by supporting collaboration across PPD’s leadership and teams and facilitating knowledge management efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Communications/Media or another relevant technical field.
  • 2 years of relevant professional work experience in external relations, public affairs or international development cooperation, preferably within the UN, or in a government institution, NGO.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven drafting and editing skills.
  • A proven ability to act with discretion and diplomacy is essential for this function.
  • High standards of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team, coping with pressure and setbacks, as well as responding and adapting to change.
  • Strong analytical skills, drive for results, as well as planning and organizing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work proactively and with minimal supervision, following instructions, procedures and policies, and keeps to schedules delivering work on time.
  • Excellent time management skills to deal with conflicting and urgent priorities.
  • Good knowledge of standard office software and tools.
  • Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Prior experience of working in coordination, planning, or in an executive office is an asset.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
