Part-Time Executive Functioning Skills Tutor
About The Position
Tutor Doctor of North Jersey is hiring patient, organized, and knowledgeable tutors to provide personalized, one-to-one support in executive functioning skills, with the ability to help in other academic subjects as well. Tutors work with students to build habits and strategies for academic success, including organization, time management, planning, and follow-through. This is a part-time, supplemental opportunity for tutors who value meaningful work and lasting student relationships. Executive functioning areas include organization, time management, planning and prioritizing, task initiation, study skills, note-taking, test preparation, and homework routines. Additional academic subjects that may be supported include math, English/writing, reading, science, social studies, and other core subjects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; education, psychology, or a related field is a plus.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable transportation for in-home sessions.
- Ability to commit to at least one academic semester.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, academic coaching, or special education support.
- Experience working with students who learn differently or struggle with focus and organization.
- Ability to tutor additional subjects such as math, English/writing, reading, science, social studies, or other core subjects.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized, in-home tutoring tailored to each student’s needs and learning style.
- Teach and reinforce practical strategies for organization, planning, and time management.
- Help students manage assignments, long-term projects, and deadlines.
- Support homework completion and understanding of additional academic subjects as needed.
- Communicate student progress and goals with parents.
- Collaborate with the Tutor Doctor team regarding student needs and scheduling.
- Submit clear and timely session reports after each tutoring session.
