About The Position

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. Reporting to the Director of Accessibility Resources, this position supports student success through individualized academic coaching, executive function skill development and holistic advising. The Executive Function Coach works with students registered with the Accessibility Resources Center. The Coach helps students strengthen executive function skills, develop effective learning strategies, build self-advocacy skills, and navigate the challenges with the transition to college. The Coach will maintain an assigned coaching and advising caseload, monitor student progress and interventions, and collaborate with the ARC coaching staff and other campus partners.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field; with three (3) years' experience and/or training involving special education, disability services, academic coaching, or executive function coaching; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized academic coaching and executive function support to students, including: Assess student strengths, barriers and support needs related to academic performance; Assist students in developing key executive function skills such as organizations, planning and prioritizing, task initiation, self-monitoring and goal setting; Establish goals and individualized action plans for success strategies with measurable outcomes; Develop strategies for academic success including notetaking, test-taking strategies and study skills; Support students in navigating the transition to college and understanding the expectations, the systems, and available resources; Help students develop strong communication, problem-solving and self-advocacy skills; Accurately document student interactions, referrals, progress notes and outcomes in designated student information systems; Provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding executive function challenges and effective student support strategies; Develop and facilitate workshops that focus on executive function skills such as time management, study skills, college readiness, self-advocacy, goal setting, and success in online courses; Analyze data on student participation and outcomes in collaboration with ARC staff; Maintains professional knowledge of best practices in academic coaching, executive function support, and student success; Maintain an advising caseload; Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
