About The Position

The Sheridan County Community Foundation (SCCF) Director provides support and leadership to grow a viable community foundation by developing relationships and working with individuals and donor families, area groups, and entities for the purpose of community development and betterment of life in Sheridan County. Sheridan County Community Foundation is an affiliate of Greater Northwest Kansas Community Foundation, a Kansas 501(c)(3) organization, with its registered office at Bird City, Kansas. The Executive Director will be a W2 employee of Greater Northwest Kansas Community Foundation while they carry out the job responsibilities on behalf of the Sheridan County Community Foundation. Status/Benefits: Full-time, Salaried Position, 36 hours/week (potential flexibility in schedule) Salary Range: $45-50k (depending on experience) Benefits include: 3% SIMPLE IRA Employer Match Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) Benefit ($6,450/year) Paid Time Off (PTO) with tenured accrual (12 days for year 1-3) and 12 paid holidays Donor-Advised Fund (fees waived while employed) There will be opportunities for performance bonuses at the discretion of the board. Location & Work Schedule: SCCF Office, 812 Main St, Hoxie, Kansas. Regular office hours include 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (with a ½ unpaid lunch period) Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on Friday. There will be opportunities to flex the regular work schedule to meet the needs of early morning and evening meetings and events. Weekend work hours may be required for specific events/campaigns.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent, required.
  • Proven experience in nonprofit leadership, strategic planning, and organizational management.
  • Experience in fundraising, donor cultivation, and grant writing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong financial management skills and the ability to oversee budgets and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Knowledge of the local community, economic landscape, and relevant government regulations.
  • Ability to think strategically, identify opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at a time.
  • Technology experience including databases (Bloomerang), Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Drive, and Social Media (Facebook, etc.).
  • Valid Kansas driver’s license.

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, economics, nonprofit management), preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Through impactful storytelling, education, and awareness, market and promote the Community Foundation to grow funds and assets and to raise the visibility of the Community Foundation.
  • Organize and facilitate annual fundraising events/projects, including communications and marketing with assistance from the board.
  • Promote funding opportunities to individuals, businesses, groups, and associations.
  • Develop and implement cooperative and joint efforts between the foundation and community/county organizations which promote common goals and achieve mutual advantage.
  • Create and oversee the SCCF operating budget with assistance from the board.
  • Manage the daily operations of SCCF business, answering and directing calls, correspondence, project/funding requests, grant reports, etc.
  • Attend and prepare SCCF board meetings providing materials including agendas, job activity & financial reports and minutes.
  • Maintain and/or coordinate SCCF website and social media.
  • Coordinate, promote, and manage the Dane G. Hansen Initiatives, with assistance from the board.
  • To include successful adherence to any Hansen-specific grant parameters and metrics.
  • Specific annual metrics that must be met annually include (at minimum): Twelve (12) documented donor meetings, the development of four (4) new endowed funds, and the procurement of two (2) documented planned gifts.
  • Facilitate grants – applications, approval, awareness, management, records, and promotion - in assistance with the board.
  • Assists board of directors in setting and implementing plans and goals, both long and short term.
  • Participate in training provided by regional and/or national trainings as recommended or required.
  • Manage and supervise staff members, promoting a positive work environment, professional development, and teamwork.
