About The Position

The Executive Director is directly responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating all fund-raising activities and for obtaining support from the local community, public and private foundations, and other sources which directly align with the mission of the Foundation and the vision of Bothwell Regional Health Center. This individual directs and manages the operations of the Foundation, ensuring the effective and efficient fulfillment of the plans and actions adopted by the Foundation’s Board of Directors. In addition, the director is also in charge of overseeing all volunteers of Bothwell Regional Health Center, including the Auxiliary and their programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare administration required.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a leadership role required.
  • Prior healthcare leadership preferred.
  • Significant years of experience in fund-raising, with a proven track record of successful and significant development activities preferred.
  • Master’s degree in business, the arts, communications, or healthcare administration with five to eight years’ experience OR a baccalaureate degree in business, the arts, communications, or healthcare administration with eight to ten years of experience.
  • Demonstrates support for organizational and departmental mission.
  • Supports and demonstrates knowledge of the Strategic Plan and the Hospital Key Initiatives.
  • Fosters and promotes teamwork within department and the organization as a whole.
  • Works to resolves conflicts constructively and in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Works in tandem with the Foundation Board of Directors and its committees to develop strategic plans, annual objectives, and board education/development to accomplish goals.
  • Drafts annual work plans to be approved by the Board.
  • Sets goals, objectives and priorities for work to be performed and reviews priorities periodically.
  • Evaluates performance of the BRHC Foundation in relation to established goals, implementing changes to effect continual improvement in services provided; and assures compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Takes initiative to identify needs which are appropriate for the Foundation to address and seeks resources to support them.
  • Oversees the implementation of the Foundation’s fundraising plans and strategies.
  • Plans, directs and facilitates fund raising activities for annual support, memorial gifts, special projects, endowments, capital campaigns, planned giving, bequests, trusts, annuities, and life insurance gifts.
  • Initiates the appropriate strategy to approach local individuals, service clubs/organizations, and businesses/corporations for charitable support; evaluates results and plans improvement strategies.
  • Serves as primary staff to the Foundation Board of Directors and is ex-officio to all committees of the Foundation.
  • Makes regular reports to the Board at quarterly meetings.
  • Meets regularly with the Foundation Board President and advises the President and Executive Committee on organizational and management issues.
  • Works to develop a strong Board, representative of the regions served.
  • Oversees the evaluation of the capacity and effectiveness of management systems, procedures, policies, and communication processes.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all systems, procedures and policies are current and functioning at highest level.
  • Responsible for creating, obtaining Board approval and implementing new procedures and policies as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with the Foundation Board of Directors, BRHC staff, volunteers, Foundation members, actual or potential donors, key stakeholders, and the community-at-large.
  • Prepares quarterly Board meeting agenda, reviews quarterly meeting minutes, and oversees the preparation of the Board packets and all Board orientation binders.
  • Participates in continuing education to improve professional skills.
  • Prepare/administer the department budget(s) and analyze variances as needed.
  • Oversee Foundation and Volunteer Coordinator position.
  • Oversee the Bothwell Foundation to include 70+ volunteers; maintain timely meeting management skills; Design a comprehensive fundraising plan for the coming year based on overall status of the Bothwell Foundation and the upcoming projects and previous years’ funds raised.
  • Oversee volunteer program to include 100+ volunteers.
  • Conceptualize, build and execute an effective marketing plan to drive awareness and growth of the Bothwell Foundation. Including the Foundation website, social media pages, community newsletters, special events management, and other advertising.
  • Prepares financial reports as needed.
  • Handles difficult situations with tact, courtesy and professionalism, listening to complaints, concerns or issues from internal customers, donors, Foundation Board members, media representatives, physicians and staff, directing the inquiries to the appropriate individual for resolution.
  • Promote volunteer satisfaction and takes necessary action to maintain a productive and motivated staff.
  • Coordinated major events, such as Wear Red for Women, Lub Dub, Pinktober, committee events, and volunteer appreciation events.
  • Creates positive working environment with all departments and clinics of Bothwell Regional Health Center.
  • Oversees funding requests, approvals and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
