About The Position

Douglass Community Services, Inc. is seeking a visionary Executive Director to lead their human services agency and advance its mission of creating opportunities and improving lives throughout their region. As the organization’s primary advocate and leader, the Executive Director will provide strategic direction, oversee operations, support a talented leadership team, ensure strong fiscal stewardship, and build meaningful partnerships that expand community impact. This is an exciting opportunity for a mission-driven leader who is passionate about human services, community engagement, and creating lasting change. The Executive Director serves as the chief executive leader of Douglass Community Services, providing strategic and operational leadership while working closely with the Board of Directors, staff, community partners, and funders. This role is responsible for ensuring the organization’s continued growth, sustainability, and effectiveness in serving children, families, and individuals throughout the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership or managerial experience in a nonprofit, human services, or educational organization.
  • Demonstrated experience writing, managing, and overseeing federal grants.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership and direction for the organization’s programs, services, and initiatives.
  • Develop and execute long-term strategic plans aligned with the agency’s mission and community needs.
  • Oversee daily operations while ensuring organizational effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Lead, mentor, and support the executive leadership team, including the CFO, CHRO, and program Directors.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on accountability, innovation, and excellence.
  • Support program leaders across Head Start, Housing, Foster Grandparent Program (FGP), Volunteer Programs, and CASA.
  • Maintain strong fiscal oversight of agency operations, budgets, and financial planning.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, contracts, and funding requirements.
  • Provide oversight of federal grants, including monitoring expenditures and supporting successful grant management.
  • Serve as the public face and advocate for Douglass Community Services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, funders, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Expand fundraising opportunities and revenue-generating initiatives to support organizational growth.
