The Executive Director oversees the total operation of a YMCA branch, including membership, marketing, programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations, and collaborations with community agencies. This role aligns the work of staff and volunteers to the branch and Association’s strategic plan, establishes and implements an annual operating plan, and effectively operates the facility and all program activities. The Executive Director identifies and corrects areas where the branch is under-performing, represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community, develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities, and develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies. This position also directs the financial development activities of the branch, achieves fund-raising goals, develops and supports a year-round fund-raising program, supports and engages in a structured major donor cultivation strategy, and develops and supports a long-range capital development plan. The Executive Director oversees the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff, develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget, and ensures budget targets are met or exceeded. This role directs branch strategic planning efforts, develops and controls long and short-term budgets, provides adequate cash balances and net assets, and develops and directs high-quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. The Executive Director serves as staff officer to the branch Board of Managers, leads a Board development effort, and fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs. This position ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment, directs branch marketing and communication efforts, serves as a member of Y management, and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA. The Executive Director must uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting, and risk management, and demonstrate the Six Pillars of Character and YMCA Core Values.
