About The Position

Medical Oncology Associates of San Diego (MOASD) is a proud partner of One Oncology's network of the nation's leading oncology practices. MOASD offers a complete range of oncology services in an atmosphere of professionalism, encouragement and understanding. MOASD provides personalized care for the detection, diagnosis, treatment, support and follow-up of cancer patients and their families. Our offices are within the Sharp Outpatient Pavilion, designed specifically to meet the needs of individuals diagnosed with cancer. Recognizing the importance of providing all services “under one roof”, our offices house a medical oncology infusion center, physician offices and exam rooms, and on-site registration. MOASD operates satellite facilities adjacent to UC San Diego Health East Campus, Scripps Mercy, and Sharp Coronado Hospital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field, required
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, with significant experience in physician practice management and employee oversight, required
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-disciplinary teams in a clinical environment, required
  • Strong understanding of medical practice operations, preferably within oncology or a specialty care setting, required
  • Proven ability to execute strategy, manage complexity, and drive operational results, required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (MHA, MBA, MPH, or equivalent), preferred
  • Experience in a physician-owned or physician-governed practice environment, preferred
  • Familiarity with California healthcare regulatory and employment considerations, preferred
  • Experience supporting practice growth, service expansion, or new site development, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for daily practice operations, ensuring efficient, effective, and compliant delivery of oncology services.
  • Oversee clinical support operations, scheduling, infusion services, and patient access in partnership with clinical leadership.
  • Establish and monitor operational key performance indicators (KPIs) that take into account staffing, patient experience, quality, and operating costs.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, throughput, and patient satisfaction.
  • Serve as primary contact between with IT department and prepare and deliver quarterly business reviews (QBRs) ensuring technology initiatives align with business goals.
  • On-site leadership presence required to support staff and operations.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing models, performance expectations, and accountability.
  • Foster a high performing, values driven culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • With the support of the HR Manager, lead recruitment, onboarding, and performance management for administrative and clinical staff.
  • Provide ongoing professional development for administrative and clinical staff.
  • Ensure clear communication, escalation pathways, and alignment across clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Execute strategic initiatives as directed by the CEO and Physician Board, translating high level strategy into detailed operational plans.
  • Serve as a trusted operational partner to physicians, supporting practice growth, service line expansion, and operational decision making.
  • Prepare materials, analyses, and recommendations for physician board meetings related to operations, staffing, growth, and performance.
  • Support new initiatives such as service expansions and growth initiatives.
  • Partner with the Director of Finance to monitor operational drivers of revenue and cost, addressing operational barriers to billing efficiency, charge capture, and collections.
  • Assist Director of Finance with vendor oversight, contract implementation, and operational alignment with approved business arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state (California), and local healthcare regulations, including those applicable to oncology practices.
  • Support adherence to policies related to quality, safety, privacy, and risk management.
  • Partner with clinical leadership to support quality initiatives and accreditation or regulatory readiness as applicable.
