JPMorgan Chase & Co.•New York, NY
•$225,000 - $350,000

About The Position

JPMorganChase is seeking an Executive Director to join Climate Advisory and partner with a cross-functional team to help clients understand and act on climate-related risks and opportunities. The role translates climate science into decision-grade advice for clients at different stages and across industries, including early-stage and growth companies, large corporates integrating resilience into operations and capital planning, and institutional investors. Working alongside the Global Head of Climate Advisory, the Executive Director applies deep scientific expertise and practical climate critical thinking to client engagements, thought leadership, and strategic initiatives. The position develops audience-specific guidance by connecting physical climate science with each client’s business model, geography, and decision context. It also supports executive communications, scientific diligence, advisory tools, and client briefings, while collaborating with sector, risk, strategy, and product partners. The role requires scientific accuracy, sound judgment, and consideration of business, financial, legal, and reputational risks.

Requirements

  • PhD in climate science, atmospheric science, earth system science, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience applying technical climate and/or physical science outside academia, such as in industry, government, finance, consulting, engineering, risk, or operations.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce clear executive-level narratives from complex material.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, synthesize large amounts of information, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adaptability and ability to manage projects independently while taking on a high level of responsibility as a team member.
  • Ability to interact comfortably and professionally with clients.
  • Excellent understanding of financial, legal, and reputational risks facing large integrated investment banks.
  • High judgment and integrity, with a strong commitment to scientific accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Global Head of Climate Advisory to deliver climate advisory engagements for corporate and investor clients, translating physical climate science into actionable guidance aligned with each client’s business model, geography, and decision context.
  • Support and co-develop flagship thought leadership, including the Climate Intuition series, and create client briefs, memos, board materials, and presentation narratives.
  • Advise companies at different stages and different types of investors.
  • Translate complex climate research into decision-ready frameworks, including scenario thinking, uncertainty communication, hazard-to-impact pathways, leading indicators, and practical next-step roadmaps.
  • Conduct and oversee scientific diligence and quality control, validating claims and appropriately addressing uncertainty and limitations.
  • Integrate climate science with business and financial context in collaboration with sector, risk, strategy, and product partners, connecting hazards to material operational and financial implications without overstating precision.
  • Develop reusable advisory assets and toolkits, including executive FAQs, sector and geography primers, visual exhibits, meeting materials, and repeatable methodologies.
  • Engage senior stakeholders and clients in workshops and executive briefings, capture client questions, and turn them into clear analyses and deliverables.
  • Partner with internal subject-matter experts and leadership to align advisory outputs with firm standards, reputational risk considerations, and client needs across regions and industries.

Benefits

  • Competitive total rewards package, with base salary determined by role, experience, skill set, and location.
  • Eligible roles may receive commission-based pay and/or discretionary incentive compensation in cash and/or forfeitable equity.
  • Comprehensive health care coverage.
  • On-site health and wellness centers.
  • Retirement savings plan.
  • Backup childcare.
  • Tuition reimbursement.
  • Mental health support.
  • Financial coaching.
