About The Position

BridgeBio is seeking a globally experienced communications leader to lead its communications function and shape how the company’s story reaches audiences worldwide. The role sets a unified corporate narrative and adapts it to different media environments, regulatory regimes, languages, and cultural contexts. It serves as the senior media strategist and a trusted partner to company spokespeople, working across media, markets, and science. The position leads communications for clinical data readouts, regulatory milestones, earnings, business development announcements, and other material events in the U.S. and international markets. It works closely with Investor Relations, Commercial, Legal, Government & Medical Affairs, and Regulatory, and leads proactive storytelling as well as communications during scrutiny or crises. The role develops a growing team and oversees agency partners, budgets, communications processes, and measurement. The role is based in Palo Alto and requires regular international travel for media engagements, scientific congresses, investor conferences, and meetings with regional teams and agency partners. Flexibility to work across time zones is expected. Demonstrated international communications experience is required; experience limited to the U.S. market does not meet the stated requirement.

Requirements

  • Experience leading corporate media relations and communications both inside and outside the United States, including relationships with non-U.S. journalists and adapting messaging across multiple markets, regulatory regimes, languages, and cultural contexts.
  • Experience managing a communications-related function with direct ownership of strategy, budget, and staffing, and responsibility for managing or building a team.
  • 12 or more years of communications experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare, in-house, at a public relations agency, or a combination, including significant experience supporting a publicly traded company.
  • Demonstrated success building senior relationships with top-tier U.S. and international reporters and securing high-impact placements for complex scientific and corporate stories.
  • Direct experience leading communications through material events such as U.S. and ex-U.S. drug approvals, clinical data readouts, regulatory milestones, earnings announcements, financings, or transactions.
  • Working knowledge of SEC disclosure requirements, Regulation FD, and the U.S. and international regulatory environments governing biopharmaceutical communications, including experience navigating approval processes.
  • Practical experience with multi-market communications, including embargoes across time zones, translation and localization workflows, and in-country review requirements.
  • Exceptional editorial judgment and the ability to set messaging direction, improve others’ writing, and communicate complex ideas across formats, channels, and audiences.
  • Proven success as a spokesperson and as a media trainer and counselor to senior executives.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and develop direct reports while retaining accountability for the function’s output.
  • Cultural fluency and judgment about when messaging should be adapted for a market and when it should remain consistent.
  • Sound judgment, composure under pressure, and discretion when handling confidential and market-sensitive information.
  • Ability to influence without authority and lead effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, highly regulated environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, life sciences, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Lived or worked outside the United States for a meaningful portion of a career, or led a function from the U.S. with genuine day-to-day international accountability.
  • Deep media relations and media-training experience, including active spokesperson and executive-coaching experience.
  • Experience managing communications staff or agencies across multiple regions, including building or restructuring an international agency network.
  • Direct experience with ex-U.S. regulatory and market milestones, such as EMA, MHRA, PMDA, or NMPA approvals; Asia-Pacific approvals; HTA and reimbursement decisions; or EU and UK disclosure and promotional requirements.
  • Communications leadership at international scientific congresses and experience coordinating with U.S. congress activity.
  • Experience supporting ex-U.S. partnerships, licensing deals, or regional joint ventures, including partner-coordinated announcements.
  • Experience establishing communications in a new geography, such as a market entry, affiliate launch, or first-time international listing or investor base.
  • Advanced degree in communications, business, public health, or a life sciences discipline.
  • Experience building or scaling a communications function from an early stage, including first hires, agency transitions, and bringing capabilities in-house.
  • Experience supporting a company’s transition from clinical-stage to commercial-stage operations, including product launch communications.
  • Therapeutic-area depth relevant to BridgeBio’s pipeline and familiarity with the scientific publication landscape.
  • Experience partnering with Investor Relations on capital markets transactions and investor-facing communications.
  • Familiarity with patient advocacy engagement and communications considerations for patient communities across geographies.
  • Hands-on fluency with AI tools and modern measurement platforms in a communications workflow.

  • Lead an international team and agency network in anticipating reputational risks and managing issues and rapid response related to data outcomes, regulatory actions, product safety, patient access, litigation, and organizational change.
  • Partner with Human Resources and leadership to prepare and inform employees globally ahead of major external announcements.
  • Manage and develop the communications team by setting priorities, delegating, providing direct feedback, and developing roles as the company scales.
  • Oversee U.S. and international public relations, digital, and creative agency relationships throughout the engagement lifecycle, manage associated budgets, and hold partners accountable for quality and return on investment.
