About The Position

The Executive Director, Organization Design is a senior leader within The Estée Lauder Companies’ Organizational Effectiveness Center of Excellence. The role leads enterprise-wide organization design and operating model engagements, translating business strategy into practical organizational solutions. It is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced practitioner with expertise in operating model and organization structure design, governance, decision rights, and ways of working.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in operating model design, organization design, organizational effectiveness, human capital consulting, or a related field.
• Experience guiding senior executives through significant operating model choices and tradeoffs in a global, matrixed organization.
• Strong business acumen and ability to translate business strategy into practical operating model decisions.
• Experience leading change management directly associated with operating model and organization redesigns.
• Strong structured problem-solving, facilitation, organizational analytics, and executive communication skills.
• Exceptional judgment, discretion, and ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, enterprise-wide organization design and operating model engagements, translating business strategy into design principles, requirements, and practical organizational solutions.
• Assess organizational challenges using qualitative and quantitative evidence, identifying root causes across structure, governance, decision rights, accountabilities, processes, and ways of working.
• Use workforce data, including spans, layers, cost, and management ratios, to inform design decisions; partner with workforce planning and analytics specialists on future workforce requirements.
• Develop and compare design options, explaining their benefits, risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs.
• Advise senior leaders on critical organizational decisions and facilitate discussions that build alignment and drive decisions.
• Translate the selected direction into future-state organizational structures, governance, decision rights, interaction models, and ways of working.
• Lead change management for organization and operating model redesigns, including stakeholder alignment, impact assessment, and adoption planning.
• Build the company’s organization design and operating model methodologies, tools, standards, and playbooks, ensuring they are practical and easy for People Partners to use.
