About The Position

Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Executive Director of Nursing provides operational leadership across inpatient and specialty service lines and translates nursing strategy into effective daily operations. The Executive Director is accountable for nursing care delivery and ensures safe, high-quality, patient-centered care that aligns with organizational goals for Acute Inpatient Care Services and Procedural and Specialty Services. The Executive Director of Nursing is responsible for outcomes established by the Chief Nursing Officer, including planning, budgeting, organizing, and supervising activities within inpatient and specialty service lines. The Executive Director provides oversight of policies, procedures, standards, and objectives related to nursing services and assists the Chief Nursing Officer in formulating, coordinating, and executing goals.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school is required.
  • A master’s degree in nursing is required.
  • A current, unencumbered North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse license is required.
  • A professional leadership or specialty certification through an organization such as AONL or ANCC is required.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience participating in and leading multidisciplinary teams focused on quality, patient safety, patient experience, and effective resource allocation is required.
  • Proven ability to implement patient care programs, policies, and procedures that support the assessment, evaluation, and fulfillment of patients’ nursing care needs.
