About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking an Executive Director-Internal Communications to serve as the enterprise leader for Internal Communications. This role shapes how team members understand, experience, and engage with the organization's mission, strategy, priorities, and culture. As a member of the Communications Executive Leadership Team, this leader guides the strategy for internal communications across the system, ensuring clear, consistent content that strengthens organizational connection, aligns with values, drives engagement, and supports business objectives. The Executive Director leads a high-performing team of communications professionals and serves as a trusted advisor and strategic business partner to senior leaders and stakeholders. The role leads integrated internal communications strategies that advance enterprise priorities, support change initiatives, and drive alignment across a complex healthcare system. This leader supports a positive team member experience by establishing communication standards and collaborating to create a consistent approach to messaging across regions, functions, and audiences. The ideal candidate is a strategic, collaborative, and business-minded leader with strong executive presence, exceptional judgment, and a proven ability to translate complex business priorities into meaningful, action-oriented communications. This role offers an opportunity to influence the experience of over 40,000 team members during a pivotal moment of IU Health's evolution, including significant strategic initiatives, growth and expansion projects, new hospital openings, and the implementation of Epic. The Executive Director will ensure communications are delivered with clarity, consistency, and purpose, helping team members navigate change, connect their work to the mission, and contribute to the successful implementation of IU Health's priorities.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree is required.
10 plus years of relevant experience.
4 years of people leader experience.
Experience managing multiple complex and often confidential projects involving multiple customers, interests and goals.
Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

Nice To Haves

Master's Degree is preferred.
