Position Summary The Global Medical Psychitary Strategy (Medical Product Lead (MPL)), Schizophrenia head plays a critical leadership role within the Global Medical Psychiatry Leadership team. This position provides leadership for medical strategy and oversees the global execution of medical activities for Medical Psychiatry, Schizophrenia, in collaboration with the Medical Psychiatry matrix. The Executive Director will lead a team of Medical Strategy leads and report directly to the VP, Head of Global Medical Psychiatry.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, DO, NP, PA, PharmD etc.) in a scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 10-15+ years of direct professional experience in pharmaceutical development within life sciences or biopharmaceuticals.
  • Minimum 4 years of medical affairs specific experience in Psychiatry.
  • Strong understanding of the biopharma drug development and commercialization process.
  • Demonstrated strength in understanding overarching company goals, performing strategic assessments, and developing clearly framed choices and recommendations.
  • Experience in project and/or portfolio management with the ability to develop clear action plans and execute them.
  • Ability to build relationships, influence, and drive organizational engagement at all levels.
  • Ability to lead strategically, drive performance, build alignment, negotiate, and collaborate.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, high-level negotiation skills, and the ability to resolve conflict constructively. Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of effective people management, including coaching, motivating, and development planning in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to travel globally (frequent travel will be required)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical research and development, or medical affairs in Psychiatry is preferred.
  • International Experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with evaluating business development opportunities is preferred.
  • Global Experience is preferred.
  • Experience working across a range of medical and/or clinical development roles is a plus.
  • Experience in analytics, particularly in relation to product launches.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Psychiatry, Schizophrenia medical strategy team, overseeing global medical planning and execution for new launches and ongoing commercialization.
  • Develop, communicate, and execute the worldwide medical strategy plan for Psychiatry, Schizophrenia.
  • Partner with Medical SMEs, Brand teams, Local Medical leads, and key cross-functional partners (Commercial, Regulatory, Safety, Labeling, Supply & Manufacturing, Quality & Compliance).
  • Lead late-life cycle medical activities and provide maintenance support (e.g., labeling, safety, quality, deletions) for non-commercialized brands.
  • Lead regional medical affairs strategies in collaboration with clinical development, market access, and commercial colleagues, focusing on Major Markets and Intercontinental regions.
  • Provide expertise in executing congress strategies, field medical plans, home office training, and other medical strategies.
  • Offer expert insights on Psychiatry, Schizophrenia trends, diagnosis, treatment options, and unmet medical needs to inform key decisions.
  • Partner with Training and Learning Team to oversee training curriculum and content for markets and/or field medical associates.
  • Partner with the medical matrix team to develop and execute the medical data generation plan, including Phase 4 and ISR planning, publication plans, and establishing BMS as a leader in Psychiatry, Schizophrenia.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, professional societies, and organizations through scientific dialogue.
  • Lead and participate in worldwide advisory meetings with key opinion leaders.
  • Accountable for the medical budget to ensure execution within defined targets.
