About The Position
The Executive Director, DevOps Engineering Excellence leads teams and functions that enable greater velocity across FreeWheel’s engineering organization and enterprise. The role establishes the strategy, operating model, governance, and execution framework for engineering portfolio management, delivery management, corporate technology services, and enterprise application platforms. It aligns business priorities with technology investment and execution, and advances delivery speed, quality, reliability, and cost efficiency. The position oversees engineering delivery management and enterprise platforms, including engineering workflows, productivity, communication, identity, and knowledge-management systems. It also leads corporate IT services supporting engineering, such as end-user technology, onboarding, access management, service operations, and support processes. The Executive Director develops engineering excellence frameworks and metrics, partners with Product, Enterprise Architecture, and Engineering leadership, and drives organizational transformation and continuous improvement. The role leads and develops a diverse organization and establishes executive-level reporting and operating rhythms that demonstrate portfolio health, delivery performance, productivity, operational effectiveness, and business impact.
Requirements
- 10 years or more of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred; applicants with a combination of coursework and experience or extensive related professional experience may also be considered.
- Leadership, operating principles, and operational excellence skills.

Responsibilities
- Lead the DevOps Engineering Excellence organization and establish its strategy, operating model, governance, and execution framework.
- Own the engineering operating model across portfolio management, delivery management, corporate technology services, and enterprise application platforms.
- Establish and improve DevOps governance, planning, and investment management processes to support transparency, accountability, prioritization, and measurable business value.
- Build and scale the Engineering Delivery Management function to improve execution predictability, release excellence, SDLC maturity, delivery visibility, and continuous improvement.
- Lead the strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle management of enterprise engineering and collaboration platforms.
- Oversee Corporate Information Technology services supporting engineering, including end-user technology, onboarding, access management, service operations, support processes, and employee technology experience.
- Develop and operationalize engineering excellence frameworks, metrics, and governance mechanisms to improve delivery velocity, quality, reliability, security, operational maturity, and organizational effectiveness.
- Partner with Product, Enterprise Architecture, and Engineering leadership to reduce organizational friction, improve cross-functional alignment, and accelerate strategic business outcomes.
- Drive organizational transformation to modernize engineering practices, improve operational efficiency, strengthen accountability, and promote continuous improvement and execution excellence.
- Establish executive-level metrics, reporting, and operating rhythms covering portfolio health, delivery performance, engineering productivity, technology investments, operational effectiveness, and business impact.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a diverse organization of leaders and professionals, fostering ownership, innovation, collaboration, inclusion, and measurable results.
- Exercise sound judgment and influence on matters of strategic, operational, financial, and organizational significance.
