About The Position

This role is for an Executive Director-Central Region at Munson Healthcare, a large healthcare system in northern Michigan. The position involves strategic leadership, operational excellence, quality and safety initiatives, cross-functional collaboration, team leadership, and stakeholder engagement. The goal is to drive regional growth, align with system priorities, and advance quality, financial, and patient experience outcomes. The role requires leading operational transformation, standardizing care delivery, managing performance metrics, championing patient-centered care, and fostering a high-performing culture. It also involves building relationships with physicians, staff, and community partners to expand access to high-quality care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field required.
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience demonstrating strategic and operational impact.
  • Deep knowledge of medical practice operations and integrated care delivery.
  • Strong proficiency in coding, billing, reimbursement, and small-business financial management.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans that enhance service delivery, optimize performance, and effectively leverage technology solutions.
  • Experienced in leading large, cross-functional teams and complex initiatives.
  • Excels in change management, stakeholder influence, and driving organizational alignment.
  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in data-driven decision-making, resource prioritization, and navigating high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • Builds trusted relationships across physicians, APPs, leaders, and staff.
  • Highly effective communicator and problem-solver who leads with resilience under tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Must be vaccinated or have lab-confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
  • Must receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute multi-year strategies that drive regional growth, align with system priorities, and advance quality, financial, and patient experience outcomes in partnership with the Clinical Dyad Leader.
  • Lead operational transformation, standardize care delivery processes, and manage scorecards and metrics to improve efficiency, reduce variability, and achieve performance targets.
  • Champion patient-centered care, advance system-wide quality and safety initiatives, and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards while improving patient flow and experience.
  • Collaborate with executive leaders and teams across finance, HR, IT, quality, and regulatory functions to align priorities, execute initiatives, and achieve enterprise goals.
  • Provide direct oversight of Practice Administrators and managers; lead performance evaluations, coaching, and development planning while fostering a high-performing, accountable culture.
  • Build strong relationships with physicians, staff, and community partners; communicate transparently, support philanthropic initiatives, and expand access to coordinated, high-quality care.
