Executive Coach

About The Position

Crisp's Business Coaches are the primary growth partner for clients, who are law firm owners trying to scale their businesses. This role differs from traditional executive coaching as it involves working directly with owners who are deeply integrated into their businesses, making decisions across various functions. The coach also serves as the account owner, responsible for the client relationship, business growth, and renewal. The ideal candidate will have direct experience building, running, or being deeply involved in a small-to-mid-size business, understanding the transition from 'surviving' to 'scaling.' While not requiring expertise in law firm operations, marketing, or finance, the role demands sufficient knowledge to identify potential issues, ask pertinent questions, and help clients establish systems for business advancement.

Requirements

  • Real operating experience: have helped stand up, run, or scale a small-to-mid-size business as a founder, operator, or in a senior role close to the P&L.
  • Understanding of growth requirements: hiring, marketing, ops, sales, budgets.
  • Broad business acumen and comfort with it.
  • Financial fluency: ability to read a P&L, understand unit economics, and discuss financial levers credibly.
  • Coaching skill: ability to ask questions that lead owners to their own answers, with directness when needed.
  • Commercial ownership mentality: viewing the book of business as a portfolio, with renewal rate and expansion revenue as outcomes of good coaching.
  • Track record of account health: experience managing renewals, upsells, or recovering at-risk relationships.
  • Organization and follow-through: ability to manage a large roster of clients without tasks falling through the cracks.
  • Comfortable presenting and facilitating, not just running 1:1 calls.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coaching, consulting, or advising business owners specifically (vs. only operating your own business).
  • Familiarity with the legal industry or professional services.
  • Experience with client experience programs.
  • Proven track record presenting to large groups (75+) with energy, command, and conviction.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full client relationship and their outcomes, including the strategic growth roadmap, account health, and results.
  • Build and maintain strategic growth plans for clients, considering their current state, goals, and market realities.
  • Help owners anticipate and address potential challenges like cash flow issues, hiring gaps, and operational bottlenecks.
  • Translate strategy into actionable, prioritized next steps.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for firm owners.
  • Manage the core coaching cadence: Annual Firm Review, Quarterly Firm Review, and Monthly Coaching Calls.
  • Provide structure and accountability in coaching sessions, ensuring owners understand key priorities and next actions.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for client outcomes, business growth, and Crisp's retention and renewal of their account.
  • Coordinate with other Crisp service functions (marketing, sales, ops) on behalf of the client to address gaps proactively.
  • Develop and execute Ascension & Renewal Plans to grow and retain accounts.
  • Identify at-risk accounts early and implement Recovery Plans.
  • Manage a roster of up to approximately 45 clients, balancing relationship depth with volume.
  • Present and facilitate at workshops and client intensives, comfortable leading group sessions.
  • Presenting and facilitating at workshops and client intensives.
