About The Position

Join the culinary leadership team at Savannah College of Art and Design as an Executive Chef and help shape an elevated dining experience within one of the nation’s most creative and dynamic university environments. This role is responsible for leading kitchen operations, driving culinary excellence, and ensuring exceptional quality, consistency, and service across dining and catering programs. The ideal candidate is a passionate and innovative culinary professional with strong leadership skills, operational expertise, and experience managing high-volume foodservice environments.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • 3–5 years of progressive culinary leadership experience in high-volume foodservice or hospitality environments
  • Strong knowledge of culinary trends, food production, catering operations, sanitation, and cost controls
  • Experience leading and developing culinary teams in fast-paced environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and general computer systems

Nice To Haves

  • Catering and banquet experience preferred
  • High-volume, multi-outlet, or complex dining operations experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all back-of-house culinary operations, including food production, preparation, presentation, and execution
  • Develop and implement regular and specialty menus aligned with dining programs, seasonal offerings, and campus events
  • Lead, train, and mentor culinary team members on food preparation, safety standards, sanitation, and equipment operation
  • Maintain high standards for food quality, consistency, creativity, and presentation
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, and product utilization to support operational and financial goals
  • Establish and maintain cleaning, sanitation, and preventative maintenance programs for kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local health and safety regulations
  • Support and execute catering and special event operations across campus
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to enhance dining experiences and introduce new culinary initiatives
