About The Position

The Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a strategic, collaborative leader to serve as Executive Associate Dean. Reporting to the Dean, the Executive Associate Dean serves as the School's chief administrative officer, providing leadership for finance, operations, facilities, strategic planning, compliance, accreditation, and resource management. The Executive Associate Dean works closely with College leadership, faculty, staff, and students to ensure the School's administrative infrastructure supports excellence in education, research, clinical service, and institutional growth. Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine is intentionally designed to reimagine veterinary education and service. As a new program, it offers uncommon freedom to build effective systems, shape institutional culture, and establish high standards for operational excellence, safety, stewardship, and continuous improvement-without legacy constraints-while remaining grounded in Lyon College's liberal arts tradition and commitment to student-centered learning. Located in Cabot, Arkansas, within the greater Little Rock metropolitan area, the School emphasizes experiential learning, technology-enabled education, and strong partnerships with industry, healthcare, agriculture, and community organizations. Senior leaders have the opportunity to create an integrated administrative and facilities framework that supports the School's mission from day one and contributes directly to the future of veterinary education in Arkansas and beyond.

Requirements

  • Terminal or advanced professional degree, or equivalent senior leadership experience.
  • Significant administrative leadership experience in higher education, healthcare, veterinary medicine, or another complex organization.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, strategic planning, operations, and organizational leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • DVM, PhD, MBA, MHA, MPH, JD, or another relevant advanced degree.
  • Experience in a veterinary college, academic health center, teaching hospital, or research institution.
  • Familiarity with accreditation and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the Dean on operational, financial, and strategic matters.
  • Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, facilities, space planning, and capital projects.
  • Lead strategic planning, operational assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee environmental health and safety, risk management, emergency preparedness, and institutional policies.
  • Foster collaboration across academic, clinical, research, and administrative units.
