About The Position

The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission is seeking an Executive Assistant to the Agency Director. In this role, you’ll be coordinating key Commission activities, including arranging public meetings, compiling the Commission’s annual report, and assisting the Director and Commission with scheduling, travel and approvals. This position is for an organized and proactive administrative professional who is energized by meaningful responsibility and enjoys being a steady, trusted point of connection for a growing organization.

Requirements

  • Coursework/training or experience related to research, presentation, or publication in an area related to the programs or functions of the employing agency
  • Coursework/training or experience in business administration
  • Coursework/training or experience in accounting
  • Coursework/training or experience in customer service
  • Coursework/training or experience in technical support work, including use of computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management
  • Regular, reliable onsite attendance
  • Occasional in-state travel
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • NRGC employees are prohibited from gambling or placing a wager in any establishment licensed by the Commission
  • Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, self‑directed approach to problem‑solving
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and maintain composure in fast‑paced or high‑pressure situations
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Comfort learning new software or systems
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within the state for meetings or Commission activities

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates monthly Commission meetings, including logistics, travel needs, agenda requests, public postings, meeting attendance, and preparation of minutes and meeting materials.
  • Manages the Executive Director’s calendar, schedules appointments, and prioritizes time and commitments effectively.
  • Prepares correspondence, approvals, reports, and other documents; assists with expense reimbursements and travel arrangements for the Director and agency staff.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains spreadsheets, dashboards, and statistical reports for Commission use, including annual reporting in collaboration with division leaders, and submits data to national entities as required.
  • Serves as the agency’s records management and retention coordinator.
  • Reviews monthly P‑Card transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for the Voluntary Self‑Exclusion program.
  • Manages the agency’s social media page and supports additional communication or administrative needs as the Commission evolves.
