The role involves relieving the executive director of minor administrative details and exercising independent judgment within agreed-upon limits. Key responsibilities include scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, drafting confidential correspondence, maintaining classified files, and performing other high-level clerical functions such as receiving visitors, scheduling appointments, and making travel arrangements. The role may also involve leading other clerical employees regarding procedures, methods, and standards. Assignments can span various departments including Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary School Education, Equity, Culture, and Community Engagement, Fiscal Services, High School Education, Legal Services, Middle/Elementary School Education, and Operations.
