About The Position

Lethbridge School Division is seeking an experienced and highly professional individual to serve as Executive Assistant to the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources. This role provides comprehensive administrative support to the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources and supports a broad range of HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment and staffing, government reporting, maintenance of HR-related software databases, and other generalist responsibilities. A central component of this role is the interpretation and application of collective agreements. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience interpreting collective agreements in a unionized environment and will provide accurate, timely, and practical advice and assistance to staff, school‑based administrators, and system leadership. This work requires sound judgment, discretion, and a strong understanding of labour relations within a public education environment. The Executive Assistant will approach their work with professionalism, care, and a service‑oriented mindset while supporting positive and respectful workplace outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of post‑secondary education in business, office administration, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Proof of completion of Grade 12 or GED required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying collective agreements.
  • Knowledge of labour relations principles and collective agreement administration.
  • Strong technical and research skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in preparing clear, accurate, and business‑professional documentation.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑based, service‑oriented environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the application of sound judgment and critical thinking.
  • Understanding of the educational context and the complexity of public education systems.
  • Demonstrated discretion and ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
  • Initiative and confidence in managing sensitive and complex situations.
  • Intermediate‑level proficiency with spreadsheets and databases.
  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification.
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name.
  • Hold and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta drivers license.
