Requirements

  • 16+ years professional work experience plus a BS/BA or 14+ years professional work experience plus a MA/MS or MBA in a corporate environment, preferably in the areas of DEI, procurement and supplier management, or corporate strategy.
  • 10+ years' experience heading and managing procurement leaders & teams with a focus on mentoring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Experience supporting Global Procurement transformation projects working directly with business partners to execute on defined scope, budget and transformation results.
  • Exceptional track record of applying procurement principles, concepts, best practices, and standards along with an in-depth knowledge of industry practices required.
  • Experience working with and leading multiple projects and teams simultaneously across a matrixed organization.
  • Strong Leadership and effective business partnering capabilities - Influence without authority mindset
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with procurement/spend systems data and analysis to drive decision making.
  • Meets Gilead’s leadership commitments with demonstrated experience in applying these principles

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Governance Lead the Global Procurement COE strategy aligned with enterprise procurement operating model transformation goals. Establish and maintain procurement policies, standards, procedures, and governance frameworks to ensure Best in Class practices throughout the Source to Settle process.
  • Procurement Technical Operations & Platforms Lead team by providing oversight and guidance on the end-to-end procurement technology landscape from a business perspective, partnering with the Procurement Lead, IT, Legal and Finance to implement and sustain source to pay, contracting, supplier management and analytics platforms, and automation tools. Drive continuous improvement and innovation through automation, AI-enabled sourcing, and advanced digital capabilities.
  • Data, Analytics & Insights Team provides oversight of a centralized procurement analytics capability delivering actionable insights on spend, savings, risk, supplier performance, and ESG metrics. Define enterprise procurement data models, KPIs, and reporting standards aligned to Finance and business outcomes. Support enablement of self-service analytics and advanced insights for category teams and leadership.
  • Supplier Programs Partner and support the design and execution of procurement-led ESG strategies, including supplier sustainability, inclusion, and regulatory compliance. Embed ESG requirements into sourcing, contracting, supplier management, and performance measurement. Enable transparency, data capture, and assurance for ESG-related procurement commitments.
  • Learning, Development & Capability Building Provide oversight of a global procurement capability framework spanning functional, digital, and leadership skills. Own onboarding, role-based curricula, and continuous learning programs. Partner with HR and Procurement Leadership to embed capability development into talent planning and performance management. Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across procurement.
