Uwharrie Charter Academy (UCA) is a public K-12 charter school in Asheboro, NC, offering a project-based, STEAM-focused curriculum grounded in Relationships, Rigor, and Relevance. This role involves designing and delivering instructional lessons for EC students based on IEPs and state standards, partnering with Regular Education teachers in an inclusion model, and maintaining appropriate EC paperwork. The teacher will provide planned learning experiences that are motivating, utilize best practices, include parent participation, align with UCA's educational model, and are developmentally appropriate. This includes selecting and using appropriate instructional materials, identifying and reflecting on student needs, and collaborating with the professional learning community to address student issues. The role also requires establishing high standards for student behavior and maintaining a functional and attractive classroom environment conducive to learning. Assessment responsibilities include administering various forms of assessments, evaluating student growth, maintaining records, preparing reports, and communicating with parents about student progress. Additional duties include timely communication with parents, administration, and colleagues, active participation in a professional learning community, performing attendance accounting, supervising students in out-of-classroom activities, sharing in student activity sponsorship, participating in faculty committees, and attending required school functions.
