About The Position

Learning how to be a great nurse extends far beyond the classroom. Our EXCEL program is designed specifically for nursing students. Rochester Regional Health is dedicated to providing outstanding experiences to nursing students in the Rochester area. As an EXCEL Nurse Intern, you will work as a patient care technician, side by side with an experienced nurse, to put the skills, knowledge and lessons you’ve learned into practice. The internship provides nursing students with vital experience that will enhance the remainder of their college education and assist in their transition into the nursing profession. The EXCEL Program Features: A 10-week paid internship, The opportunity to work 24 to 40 hours a week, Weekly educational opportunities, Networking opportunities.

Requirements

• Enrolled in an accredited ASN or BSN program
• Must be graduating December 2027 or May 2028

Nice To Haves

• Completion of two clinical rotations preferred

Responsibilities

• Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members
• Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient’s unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progress
• Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR – including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication
• Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirements
