Requirements

  • Three or more years of related construction experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
  • Texas Driver's License with proper endorsements, depending on assignment.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States of America to qualify for employment.
  • Must complete and pass a drug screen.
  • Must complete and pass a medical exam to ensure physical and/or mental capacity to complete the tasks required by the job (for field positions).
  • Some positions require completion of a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a crawler or rubber-tired machine mounted with an excavator bucket for excavating ditches, structures, and mass excavations.
  • Lays pipe and precast concrete structures, loads trucks, and places rock riprap.
  • May operate machines equipped with various hydraulic attachments.
  • Starts engines, moves throttles, switches, and levers, and depresses pedals to operate machines.
  • Signals truck drivers to position trucks for loading.
  • Takes actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions.
  • May perform routine maintenance such as oiling and greasing the machine.
  • Makes necessary adjustments to equipment.
  • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
