About The Position

Heidelberg Materials is one of the world's largest suppliers of building materials. Heidelberg Materials North America operates over 450 locations across the U.S. and Canada with approximately 9,000 employees. This role operates excavators to load raw materials into portable crushing equipment, performs routine equipment checks and basic maintenance, and assists with plant setup, relocation, and breakdown. The position requires communication with team members to maintain efficient material flow and adherence to all safety and environmental procedures. The work environment includes moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise levels. Physical demands include sitting for extended periods, frequent walking, standing, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, manual dexterity, and visual acuity. Tolerance for dusty, noisy, and physically demanding environments is necessary, along with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

  • Skilled in operating excavators and other heavy equipment in a production setting
  • Strong commitment to safety and situational awareness
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mobile plant environment
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting equipment issues
  • Flexibility to work mid-shift hours and adapt to changing work locations
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, and background check

Responsibilities

  • Operate excavators to load raw materials into portable crushing equipment
  • Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance to ensure safe operation

  • Follow all safety and environmental procedures on site
