About The Position

Bonfe is hiring an experienced and motivated Excavation Technician to serve as a Working Lead on sewer and utility construction projects. This role is hands-on, requiring the technician to lead a small crew through the daily demands of underground utility work while also operating excavation equipment and tools. The ideal candidate is a natural leader who thrives outdoors, possesses deep technical expertise, and takes pride in ensuring a safe and productive job site.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in underground utility and sewer construction
• Valid CDL – no exceptions
• Proficiency with jetters, sewer inspection cameras, and locating equipment
• Confidence in leading a crew while staying involved in the physical work
• Strong trenching and excavation knowledge
• Dependable, safety-first mindset and problem-solving ability
• Clear communicator who can adapt to changing field conditions

Responsibilities

• Lead a crew on residential sewer and utility installation jobs
• Operate excavation equipment and tools, including jetters and camera inspection systems
• Read and follow construction plans, blueprints, and job specs
• Locate underground utilities using industry-standard tools
• Keep accurate job documentation and enforce safety protocols
• Ensure light mechanical maintenance is completed and tools are job-ready
• Work in the field, not behind a desk – every day is hands-on
