About The Position

Shield AI is seeking a Harness Design Engineer to design complex wire harnesses and cable assemblies for the X-BAT autonomous UAV platform and supporting ground equipment. The role supports the development of reliable, precise, and high-performing aerospace systems, from concept through deployment. The engineer will work with electrical engineering and cross-functional teams to define harness design requirements, analyze and test designs, and support integration. The position also involves leading technicians who build, test, and debug parts of the EWIS system.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
0–2 years working with wire harness designs for automotive, aerospace, or robotics; professional, personal, or club experience is acceptable.
Experience with a 3D CAD modeling tool such as NX or CATIA.
Knowledge of GD&T best practices, tolerance stack-ups, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
Experience with electrical schematics and connector selection.
Hands-on experience with harness fabrication or testing.
Ability to work independently in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated record of working hard, being trustworthy, holding oneself to high standards, and being kind to others.

Nice To Haves

Ability to obtain an S//SAR-level security clearance is desired.

Responsibilities

Design wire harnesses and cable assemblies for X-BAT and supporting ground equipment.
Collaborate with electrical engineering to define connector selection, current and voltage requirements, shielding, and other design aspects.
Perform electrical, mechanical, and environmental analyses to assess harness reliability.
Prototype and test harnesses in dynamic, mission-critical environments.
Collaborate with avionics, systems, supply chain, and manufacturing teams on integration.
Lead technicians in building, testing, and debugging various parts of the EWIS system.
