EW/EMSO SME

Castellum IncToms River, NJ
$160,000 - $180,000Hybrid

About The Position

This position serves as an operational and technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Electronic Warfare (EW)/Electronic Support Operations (EMSO), Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), Counter-UAS (C-UAS), and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) testing and integration. The role involves translating operational needs into test objectives, scenarios, technical requirements, Measures of Performance (MOPs)/Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs), and evaluation criteria. The SME will plan and support various testing phases, including developmental and operational testing, experimentation, demonstrations, and assessments of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), government off-the-shelf (GOTS), prototype, and emerging technologies. Key activities include evaluating and integrating RF/spectrum sensors, EW systems, UAS/ISR payloads, tactical networks, Command and Control (C2) applications, and C-UAS technologies. The position also supports Group 1-3 UAS operations and integration, analyzing test results, supporting integration of various systems into distributed range architectures, and assisting with spectrum planning, RF deconfliction, site integration, fielding, training, and operational handoff. Customer feedback and test results will be captured to develop technical recommendations, after-action reports, and future capability requirements. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant DoD or defense industry experience in EW/EMSO, SIGINT, ISR, UAS/C-UAS, spectrum operations, or tactical communications.
  • Experience supporting T&E, experimentation, emerging technology evaluation, and system integration.
  • Working knowledge of RF/spectrum systems, tactical communications, sensors, and C2 technologies.
  • Ability to translate operational needs and test results into technical requirements, assessments, and recommendations.
  • Active DoD security clearance preferred; ability to obtain and maintain required clearance mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Group 1–3 UAS, C-UAS, ISR operations, EO/IR or RF/SIGINT payloads, tactical networking, ISR PED, or sensor-to-C2 workflows is desired.
  • Prior operational EW, SIGINT, ISR, UAS/C-UAS, or spectrum experience.
  • Experience with DoD ranges, rapid prototyping, experimentation, and fielding.
  • Familiarity with tactical C2, sensor integration, ISR, and C-UAS.
  • Experience working across operators, engineers, government organizations, and technology vendors.
  • FAA Part 107 certification, military UAS qualification, or equivalent operational UAS experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the operational and technical SME for EW/EMSO, UAS, C-UAS, and ISR testing and integration.
  • Translate operational needs into test objectives, scenarios, technical requirements, MOPs/MOEs, and evaluation criteria.
  • Plan and support developmental and operational testing, experimentation, demonstrations, and assessments of COTS, GOTS, prototype, and emerging technologies.
  • Evaluate and integrate RF/spectrum sensors, EW systems, UAS/ISR payloads, tactical networks, C2 applications, and C-UAS technologies.
  • Support Group 1–3 UAS operations and integration, including RF/SIGINT, EO/IR, communications, sensing, and threat-representation missions.
  • Analyze test results to assess operational effectiveness, interoperability, limitations, mission utility, and technology maturity.
  • Support integration of fixed, mobile, deployable, and airborne systems into distributed range architectures, including remote monitoring and reach-back.
  • Support spectrum planning, RF deconfliction, site integration, fielding, training, and operational handoff.
  • Capture customer feedback and test results to develop technical recommendations, after-action reports, and future capability requirements.
