About The Position

Alliance Used Truck Center - Five Star Fire is seeking a qualified service technician to perform on-site and facility-based work on Emergency Vehicles. This role involves inspecting, repairing, and replacing various vehicle components, including engines, fuel, air, electrical, cooling, and HVAC systems. The technician will also service and repair equipment such as light towers, air and electric cord reels, ejector systems, and auxiliary charging systems. Specific repair responsibilities include pumps and related items from brands like Waterous, Hale, Darley, Akron, and Elkhart, as well as electrical systems, foam systems, generators, and 12V/110v/220v lighting and electrical systems. A key part of the role is troubleshooting, repairing, and testing fire apparatus pumps according to NFPA standards, ensuring all pumps are tested after repair before returning to service. The technician will also complete preventive maintenance inspections, servicing, and correct discrepancies based on manufacturer guidelines and company policies. Accurate completion of work orders, including detailed descriptions of work performed, time, parts, and supplies used, is essential. The role requires verifying equipment is in working order after servicing to achieve a 0% comeback rate. Assistance may be provided to lower-level mechanics with diagnostic and technical issues. Depending on shop flow, work on other vehicle types may be required.

Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience working on Emergency Vehicles, Heavy Duty Trucks, and/or RV’s
  • Possess your own tools
  • A valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • EVT certification a Plus.
  • ASE certification a plus
  • CDL driver’s license is preferred, but not a condition of employment

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, and replace components such as engines, fuel, air, electrical, cooling, and HVAC systems.
  • Perform repairs and servicing of equipment components like light towers, air and electric cord reels, ejector (air and electric) and auxiliary charging systems.
  • Repair pumps and related items for Waterous, Hale, Darley, Akron, Elkhart.
  • Service electrical systems, foam systems, generators and 12V/110v/220v lighting and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and test fire apparatus pumps in accordance with NFPA testing standards.
  • Complete preventive maintenance inspections, servicing, and correct discrepancies according to manufacturer guidelines, maintenance policies, directives, and advisories.
  • Complete work order documents including descriptive outlines, noting time, parts, and supplies used.
  • Verify working order of equipment after servicing is complete with a desire to ensure 0% comeback rates.
  • Assist lower-level mechanics with diagnosis and technical issues.
  • May require to work on other vehicle types based on shop flow.
