About The Position

This is a full-time temporary position from June through August, with a shift from 1 PM to 9:30 PM. The role is non-exempt and offers a compensation range of $17.99 to $23.99 per hour. The EVS Technician is responsible for maintaining the facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through thorough washing and cleaning, including disinfection of infectious rooms. The position requires adherence to safety precautions, operation of mechanized cleaning equipment, and proper disposal of various waste materials. Key duties include managing trash, biohazardous waste, soiled linen carts, and restocking clean linen. The technician will also perform general cleaning tasks such as washing windows, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning fixtures. Responsibilities extend to checking vacant rooms daily, reporting needed repairs, and acting as a positive team member within the Environmental Services (EVS) Department. The role involves participating in interdepartmental process improvements, attending staff meetings, and utilizing a computer for training, emails, and the work order system. Effective problem-solving and collaboration with other departments are essential, as is demonstrating a professional and caring demeanor. The technician must ensure continual compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations, including reporting abuse and adhering to infection control, safety, and risk management protocols. The position also requires commitment to the organization's values, effective communication, adherence to dress code, initiative, self-motivation, timely completion of duties, and active participation in performance improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition with thorough washing and cleaning.
  • Disinfection of infectious rooms.
  • Uses safety precautions in all areas.
  • Operates various mechanized cleaning equipment i.e., shop vacuum and carpet shampooer.
  • Responsible for disposal of trash, biohazardous waste, and other disposable materials.
  • Empties soiled linen cart.
  • Re-stocks clean linen.
  • Washes windows, dusts, vacuums, and mops.
  • Cleans sinks, mirrors, commodes, showers, and walls within the facility.
  • Checks all vacant rooms daily.
  • Reports any needed repairs to the manager.
  • Acts as a positive and supportive team member to the Environmental Services (EVS) Department.
  • Participates in interdepartmental process improvements and process evaluation efforts.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Ability to operate a computer to take online training, read emails, and use the work order system.
  • Interacts in solving problems and works as a team with other departments.
  • Demonstrates a professional and caring manner.
  • Strives to ensure continual compliance with the department and MRH policies and procedures as well as State and Federal regulations.
  • Identifies and accesses necessary systems to report abuse of employees and/or patients.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
