About The Position

The EVS Tech is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment within the hospital. This includes cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, common areas, and other facilities according to established protocols. The role involves proper waste disposal, supply management, equipment operation, and responding to service requests. The EVS Tech must adhere to infection prevention, safety standards, and hospital policies, while demonstrating professionalism and contributing to team-based decision making.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to hospital policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, treatment areas, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common spaces according to established protocols using a variety of cleaning tools, equipment and chemicals.
  • Dust, clean, disinfect and polish furniture and equipment per established cleaning protocols.
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures to reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections.
  • Safely handle, remove, and dispose of waste, including regulated medical waste, in compliance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
  • Stock and maintain supplies in designated areas.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and properly.
  • Respond promptly to cleaning and service requests from staff and departments.
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain cleanliness of walls, windows, doors, and ceilings by performing spot cleaning as needed and completing scheduled wash and disinfection.
  • May assist with keeping entryways free of snow, ice and debris.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, procedures, safety standards, infection control practices, environmental guidelines, and quality assurance programs.
  • Maintain all required records, reports, and statistics as directed.
  • Assist in the care, cleaning, and proper storage of departmental equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in educational programs, in-service training, and required departmental or hospital meetings.
  • Follow hospital safety standards and actively participate in safety training.
  • Communicate and uphold hospital compliance program standards, procedures, and goals.
  • Contribute to team-based decision making; demonstrate flexibility, cooperation, and respect for others’ ideas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with approved hospital policy.
